About Us
As a Owner/Rescuer of Pit Bulls and their relatives I am constantly pushed and forced to defend my rights to own these animals.  Not one day goes by where I dont get the "why Pits? arent you scared for your kids lives?" question.  The truth is that I am not.  Only because I am a very cautious owner.  I dont allow agressive animals in my home, I am more scared of the dogs that the Police have than I am scared of a Pit Bull.  ANY dog is agressive if you train it to be that way.  German Shephards are used by our Police as attack dogs and yet we arent afraid of them, in fact when seen in public small children are encouraged to pet these dogs.  Dobermans were used and still are used as guard dogs but I know I grew up with one in my Grandparents home in Puertorico.  The stereotpe of Pit Bulls is just point blank racist.  The only reason our society is allowed to treat Pit Bulls the way they do is because they have been linked to gang activity and society stereotypes a gang member as a black or latino person.  This is justified racism and its not right.  When I get a call from someone in East TX looking for Boxer I get "the reason Pitbulls are bad dogs is because of those black people that breed them"!  YES! I actually had a call like that!  This is actually an accepted mentality in the South!  But why?  As a rescuer statistically I get more neglected dogs from white families than black.  I have only to this day received ONE neglected dog from a Latino family!  So what does that say to me?  It shouldnt say anything.  What about judging people by the way they look?  I wear a du rag and play my rap music loudly does that make me a bad Pit Bull owner?  I have tatoos and live in the ghetto.  And so what?  One other rescuer made the remark of "if you dont want people to think youre a thug why do you dress like one?".  Well, I dress the way I like I grew up IN Brooklyn NYC where the style was baggy jeans, du rags and "wife beaters"(I like to call them hubby beaters!).  But that doesnt make me less educated or a thug.  It makes me a human being with my own look.  If you dont like it, too bad!  You dont pay my bills I DO!

3.)Thou shalt not Confuse. Be consistant!!!

4.)Thou shalt not speak in tounges. Your Pit Bull takes comands literally.

5.) Thou shalt not hurt your friend. Striking, Hiting Choking ect. hurts an animal emotionally and physically.

6.) Thou shalt not beat a dead horse. Never try to train a sleepy or full dog.

7.) Thou shalt not end on a low note. Begin and end each training session with something easy to do.

8.) Thou shalt not go crazy. Don't repeat a command over and over or shout it louder when the animal doesnt respond.  Would you respond?

9.) Thou shal not use force. Your dog wants to please you, it just takes time to learn how.

Interesting Myths about Pit Bulls....

1.) Pit Bulls DO NOT have locking Jaws!  They are built just like any other dog, they just have more muscle mass.

2.)You shoul roll an intimidated dog on its back... This is actually a good way to get bitten!

3.) Rubbing your dogs nose in his own messdoesnt work.  Its also really nasty if you happen to be the type of person who kisses their dog!

4.)You can tell if a dog is well by checking the wettness of their nose.  Actually, really sick dogs can have a runny nose and well dogs can have a very dry nose.

5.) A dog that scoots their rear on the floor must have worms... This not necessarily true, the dog MAY have tapeworms, however this is actully a more common sign of impacted anal glands.
